The Rex Theatre was located at 314 Broad Street in Leland, Mississippi. Leland was and is a city in Washington County, Mississippi, in the Mississippi Delta. The population in 2008 was just 4,790. It was long a center of the cotton culture. As the title describes, the Rex Theatre was a cinematic treasure that was exclusively for African American patrons. The theater burned down on October 23, 1952.
